Asian Champion Indian hockey team rejects meagre prize money - The Times of India

25,000rs per player is so **** it's unbelievable. Albie Morkel makes more than that hitting 3 sixes in a game in the IPL

Yeah Rs.25,000 is too less even from Hockey Standards.

Though i doubt it would be increased a lot, as the hockey federations are nowhere near as minted as the cricket board. Plus there are 2 federations who are operating right now and warring against each other.
These type of tournaments used to be telecast earlier, but now this was not even telecasted.

Just to put things into perspective a average domestic cricket player gets Rs.40,000 plus other expenses just to play one Ranji trophy match these days.

Yeah we don't crap in the first world; most of us would actually have no idea what that was emanating from Ajmal's backside. Why isn't it roses and rainbows like what happens here? PEWS's retort to Ganeshran on Daemon's picture depicting Ajmal's excreta

Now, after the controversy, The Union sports ministry has announced a award of Rs.1.5 lakh for each player and the Punjab government has announced Rs.25 Lakh for the whole team.

Not sure about the federation increasing it or not though.
