The whole Blackfish thing is a bit bizarre, lots of people thought they would leave him out, they don't and cast Clive Russell in the role, then he is in 5 episodes in season 3 then not seen again. Other characters they've kind of made stuff up to keep them involved so not sure whether they are going to bring him back at all.

Well they cast Julius Caesar and did nothing with him for long periods either. Though hopefully he has some good stuff coming up next season.

It's a pity that Marc Anthony is busy with The Following. I reckon Cassius would be perfect for playing one of the residents of High Tower.

Michelle Fairley was recently interviewed on the Lady Stoneheart issue, and had the following to say:

There was a lot of online conversation. I heard third-hand that you were basically told that it’s not likely to ever happen. Is that accurate?
Yeah, the character’s dead. She’s dead.

Do you have a preference at all—do you think Catelyn’s arc should end where it ended, or would you be into the resurrection idea?
You respect the writers’ decision. I knew the arc, and that was it. They can’t stick to the books 100 percent. It’s impossible—they only have 10 hours per season. They have got to keep it dramatic and exciting, and extraneous stuff along the way gets lost in order to maintain the quality of brilliant show.

I came in here just to post that. If this is really true, then I'm disappointed that Stoneheart will be omitted from the show. I think that character is really important to Briene's and Jamie's arcs. Not to mention her introduction was just so bad ass. Bummer.

Well tbf, Fairley isn't going to say anything otherwise is she? She would probably be sworn to secrecy if they were going to keep Stoneheart.

And technically Catelyn is very dead. Lady Stoneheart is just a shadow of her former self.

    But yeah I'm losing hope.

I said this before but I'm glad. Hated her in the books. I felt it took away a little bit from the RW emotion wise. And I don't think it adds much - you can get them to where they need to go in other ways.

I'm hoping we will have the book before the end of next season - cause that would be four years.

I don't care about Lady Stoneheart. Sophie Turner is 18 now and can do nudity. Bring on Lady Strawberry Patch!

Anyone get a look at the Alayne sample chapter the Gurm released a few days ago? Not sure if that's up for discussion in this thread but it's the first we've had in a year or so.

Also I, annoyingly, came across a post spoiling the first four episodes of the upcoming season. Obviously I won't repeat anything I read but MAJOR divergences from the books incoming.

You can tell just from the trailers if you look at those screen shots of all the fast moving pictures.

But yeah I then went on to read that too.

Typical boring as **** modern Martin chapter in which nothing happens

If you read the sample chapters it's no surprise at all that 'Mercy' was written 10 years ago. It's much, much better than the others

Kind of have to agree. It seemed to be his attempt at Jane Austen-like sensibility exhibiting Sansa's growing wit and sexuality, only without much of Austen's way with words. His writing is so much more suited to the finer moments of humanity placed within the world-building. Basically his pacing is all off now and the story progresses painfully slowly. Although A Feast for Crows is my favourite and that's a pretty slow build so there's clearly an inherent contradiction in my opinion.
