    A number of methods.

One is Since the UK is quite well documented they can add up all the produce (incomes) of all the businesses in UK and compare them with the data of the previous quarter

And smalishah's avatar is the most classy one by far Jan certainly echoes the sentiments of CW

Yeah we don't crap in the first world; most of us would actually have no idea what that was emanating from Ajmal's backside. Why isn't it roses and rainbows like what happens here? PEWS's retort to Ganeshran on Daemon's picture depicting Ajmal's excreta

They just print a whole heap of money and say GDP went up despite inflation making everyone worse off.

as was mentioned, it's the summation of all the money spent in the economy.

Back in April, I had a haircut.

    Evidently, it harmed the economy.

Haha they can't do that anymore.

The modern way is to borrow money from the future, spend it, then count it as GDP.

Here, in essence, is why I fume about it so much. Kate and Wills are nobodies who only owe their position of 'supremacy' to an accident of birth, so I don't see the point of us spending so much money on a wedding that ends up hurting the economy. In contrast, this royal wedding deserves more attention, IMHO:

BBC News - Royals to gather for wedding of Zara Phillips

Mike Tindall is a former England rugby captain, while Zara Phillips is a sportswoman in her own right. They deserve more news coverage than those two charlatans in April....

Stop having a rant shivfan.... Its all about demand. Will and Kate's wedding had a lot of demand globally so hence all the extravagance and fanfare. There isn't much demand for Zara's wedding.
