Sick of people bashing the royal wedding and St George's day and so on. If you don't want to participate, then don't.

That was members' night at the Hellfire Club mate, and you know it.

There's no "Royalty opt-out" option on the tax return form tbh. Although luckily I can just tick the student box instead .

I do agree though. I dislike having a royal family and the whole thing just makes me cringe but at the same time it has almost no impact on my life, so I don't really get people who get worked up about the whole thing.

Well there's heaps of things I'd like opt-outs from on my tax form. Not really sledger's point is it.

Well of course there is, and I can't exactly say "if you don't like unemployment benefits, then don't participate in them." When your taxes pay for something you have a right to voice your opinion on it all you want, whether it's a needlessly extravagant wedding or a council estate for a bunch of chavs.

Not digging the council estate generalisation

It's like people are being charged more tax because of this royal wedding. They aren't. The royal family as a whole is a separate issue - this will bring in more than it costs. It's a non-starter.

Yeah, it's hard to have a go at them in terms of money any more. I still find them pretty embarassing.

Hey, you're the guy who objects to having a benefits system, not me!

Agree with what Howe said above, really. Although one of my housemates suggested turning Buckingham Palace into a state-run hotel. Holy ****, that'd make us boatloads of cash.

I'm not really a fan of the Royal family tbh, find the majority of them a bunch of idiots, particularly Charles and Philip. But, having said that, the Royal wedding has given plenty of people something to look forward to and become enthused about, it will hopefully bring members of various communities together and something to enjoy or at least a bit of time to chill out and have fun, not to mention the fact that it's going to benefit the country economically. I'm not going to pay a lot of attention to it myself, but it gets on my nerves when people drone on about how **** it is and so on.

Well it is costing you taxpayers, I'm on time and a half to work that day

Not getting into the wedding etc side, as I'm a fair bit of a Royalist.

But the anthem is durge. I reckon we go all modern and have a range to choose from depending on the occasion:

'God Save the Queen' - Only when the Queen is present at the event
'Land of Hope and Glory' - Always see this as something to close an event (thanks to the Proms I guess)
'Rule Britannia' - Does sound like some smug victory dance to me, ideal for Ashes series
    'Jerusalem'
'I Vow To Thee My Country' - Personally like this one as a prelude to an event, eg the start of a footie international
"All are lunatics, but he who can analyze his delusions is called a philosopher." - Ambrose Bierce
Langeveldt: I of course blame their parents.. and unchecked immigration!
GingerFurball: He's Austrian, they tend to produce the odd ****ed up individual
Burgey: Be careful dealing with neighbours whose cars don't have wheels but whose houses do.
Uppercut: Maybe I just need better strippers

    GSTQ is awful, yes.

I always replace "Queen" with "team" when I sing it at Twickers.

Blake & Parry's Jerusalem would get my vote.
