Benchy, does some menu pop up before you get into Ubuntu asking you to select something? Might be called GRUB or summat.
Yeah, like Spark said, it's the opposite of what I did. I think you will have to wipe out the Ubuntu installation to get Windows working, because Windows doesn't recognize the Unix File System. The Wubi installation, on the other hand, makes a huge file for itself in the Windows File System (FAT32) and emulates the Unix File System on top of that.

None of the above is relevant to your problem BTW. Basically, you have to take a Windows disk and reinstall Windows from scratch. Can you elaborate on the "virus" messages that you said you were getting?

Well when I tried to boot from the Windows cd it seemed as if it was working then a blue screen came up and said something like

"can not complete installation. If this is the first time you have seen this message, check hard drive for viruses"

    Something along those lines anyway.

I just want Windows. How do I install it and get read of Ubuntu? The **** is so hard to use. Tried to download a program before and had nfi how to install it. WAC.

As i said it's command based, so you have to go into a terminal (think DOS) and type in a command for it to install. Really easy once you get used to it since it does all the work for you (downloading and all) but it can be a right pain to get your head around.

He just wants rid of it though, no commands for Ubuntu to format the disk and get rid of itself. My guess is the Windows installer doesn't like what Ubuntu has written in the boot partition and thinks it's a virus or something. I'll try googling a few things and see what I can find.

ftr, that virus related message came up before I installed Ubuntu.

i just got the strangest phone call. some person in a call centre rang me up, called me mr fox (ie knew my last name) and told me my computer was in a very bad state. after 5 minutes of not being able to hear what she was saying i told her to call back some other time. but now i'm worried.

There's an Ubuntu App Store now though which is supposed to streamline the process.

Isn't all you need to do just format the existing hard drive and then install Windows normally, as if it was a new pc?
