I doubt that law is with regards to being tested as soon as you step off the airplane, it's probably just there so that people don't waste their time by trying to prove they took drugs overseas whenever they get tested positive. (Which tbf doesn't sound a whole lot better)

I'm pretty much spending two years of my life in stasis atm thanks to them, that's easily far worse than any of the other laws and rules they have. ****s.

Thought you were training to be a firefighter?

Does it not count as "properly" doing it because it's national service?

I'm not really sure what you're asking there tbh

I'm done with the training phase. Serving the two years of National Service as a firefighter instead of in the army. Some guys even get posted to Police.

Oh I see

I thought you had actually decided to be a firefighter, and had got in the training via national service or something like that.

Ah nah. I'll definitely pursue my studies and get a boring job. The pay for being in that line of service isn't all that great tbh.

Also worth mentioning that there have been 5 reported deaths from National Service this year. Most recent one was my friend's platoon mate who died from smoke inhalation. Another kid was found floating in a river in Brunei as well after he went missing on one of their outfield exercises. RIP to them, can't even begin to imagine the frustration their families must be feeling.

They go to Brunei for outfield trainings because the jungles there are thicker and denser compared to out here.

The pay in Singapore isn't all that great even for highly qualified expats. The tax rates however are pretty damn good. Lot in the pocket.

The Singapore military has bases in Australia don't they?

Largely because there's **** all room in the country I'd imagine.
