Bit of a weak round given some of the artists who have gone out already, but the top four are pretty good.

Throwing James the maximum here; quality purveyors of intelligent guitar pop and not a little innovative with Eno at the helm either.
The Who second. Always about Townsend's vision, but their engine room gave it flesh. The Boss edges out Led Zep for third, love Springsteen's social conscience. Heartfelt but rarely didactic.
Beach Boys fifth, transcedent at their peak, but horrible at their nadir. Pumpkins sixth and OR take the single.
