Results for Battle Two
I'm calling it. Over two hours since the last vote and 19 points between 8th & 9th.
The exits were only ever between the three metallic contenders & in the end In Flames outlast their confreres quite comfortably. Still 37 shy of 7th tho. A dominant performance from The Man in Black sees him establish his credentials for a serious challenge & Crowded House do the antipodes proud in 2nd. 1. Johnny Cash - 162 2. Crowded House - 130 3. Metallica - 125 4. The Velvet Underground - 117 5.The Beach Boys - 105 6. Explosions in The Sky - 81 7.Flaming Lips - 79 8. In Flames - 42 9. Morbid Angel - 23 10. Burzum - 16

Tricky decision for the top spot, tbh. REM & Sir Nicholas's Seeds have quite amazingly consistent bodies of work. Just going for the latter because he's never turned out a clunker like Around The Sun.
1) Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds 2) REM 3) The Doors 4) Led Zeppelin 5) James 6) Queens of The Stone Age 7) Okkervil River 8) Split Enz 9) Bush 10) Tool |

1. Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds
2. REM 3. Led Zeppelin 4. The Doors 5. Tool 6. Okkervil River 7. Split Enz 8. Queens of The Stone Age 9. James 10. Bush Like all of the top 6 a fair bit. Order is a fairly easy call though, honestly. Love Nick, and REM are just an amazingly consistent band. Tool are a bit of a weird one because I like some things about their music a lot and hate other things, but overall they're a worthy band and if nothing else have spawned a huge number of derivative prog-hard rock acts, and are worth a placing for innovation/influence alone.

Top 3 is a real pig. 3 great bands and I could easily have put them in any order. |
