Paul Henry

Just wanted to have my say on this guy.

Firstly for those outside of NZ who havn't been following this - here is the best link I could find
India warns of fallout over race slurs | Stuff.co.nz

Basically I don't care whether he gets fired - I think I would care if I thought he really meant his comments from the bottom of his heart. But I figure that he is a normal guy who is just playing to a certain sector of the population for ratings. His employer obviously loves the attention and wants to give him 12 day suspensions and so forth for his sins.

The only part that saddens me is that he has fans and supporters - and that freedom of speech is being used as an excuse. I have always felt that freedom of the speech should be used with responsibility.

OK that is my two cents,

Thanks for listening...

Yeah. I'm surprised he doesn't just quit and start up a podcast called 'Paul Henry's Political Podcast Pornatorium' where he just gets to speak his mind, directly to his supporters who will no doubt value his 'honesty' and 'telling it like it is'.

If I could give a bigger **** than I do (and I don't think I should - he doesn't deserve it), I'd start up a rival Facebook page that says something like 'Paul Henry, Just saying what we're all thinking - if you're a racist ****tard'

People like these thrive on attention. Best to just leave him be.

He's on NZ breakfast television 6-9am. That's pretty much left to be. But no, he's still getting attention. edit: solution: don't let him talk to news worthy people like the Prime Minister, though.

If Paul Henry gets dropped from TVNZ he will get picked up by a competitor. Huge morning following.

Who do you mean by competitor? There's TVNZ and TV3.

He wouldn't get $200K at a radio station.

Reckon he could still make a bit of a dent in TVNZ's target audience though. His absence would be felt pretty strongly.

I don't think TV3 would pick him up. After Sunrise bombed, they've really only got the news and Campbell Live now.

Think they'd probably be able to build a show around him. He seems to be ridiculously popular.

Yet another instance of CW people with their 'holier than thou' attitude. ****, this guy might be controversial but the media have blown this up way out of proportion. He's witty and edgy, that's it.

So saying a Governor General who was born and raised in Auckland and served as a judge for 20 years doesn't look like a NZer is OK?

Haha "holier than thou" attitude?

1. Not all, but most people at the receiving end will take offence to such comments.
2. These coments were made on a popular show on a major channel. Pretty unsurprising it got coverage.

Silly if they thought it won't cause a stir.
