Someone's already tried that joke, ****

Anyway, my thoughts on this battle before I get on with my work.

Okay, first one. You Ain't the First is a nice little tune, it's different. I don't mind Izzy singing a couple of songs but this one misses Axl IMO, the lyrics are tailor-made for him to sneer them. IRS is a quality little rocker, I love the bit after the solo when the drums kick in and Axl comes back with, "I bet you think..." IRS

Second one is a clash of the titans, thought we might see some people popping in to vote who hadn't previously. Probably their two most popular songs amidst the mainstream. I love Paradise City, great show-closer as well and I spent my late teens unable to pick up birds because I was too busy drying to dance like Axl does in the video. That being said, Sweet Child is the reason I became a gunner. Sure, it's played out, bollocks pub bands always butcher it and there have been some hideous covers done. But the intro is magical, the night I discovered this vocal it took me about three or four minutes to actually get to the vocals. And when I did...wow. Axl delivers his message straight from the heart here, he sounds great. And then the Slash solo is one of his best, and I love the 'where do we go' for the outro...yeah it's been played out and there are plenty of GNR songs that I like better regardless, but Sweet Child O' Mine is special.

IRS & You Ain't the First are tied

Sweet Child O Mine is comfortably through

If someone who hasn't voted could vote on the former, that would be splendid. Will post up the next two as well now.

Better... against an unknown for those of us who arn't tragics

Your Crazy.... Don't Cry being a belting tune n all, and Shannon Hoon's backing adds to it (loved Blind Melon), but Axl on whinging lyrics is nowhere near angry Axl

Actually go with Shadow of Your Love in the first. Least it sounds like GnR. What I've heard of Chinese Democracy hasn't impressed one iota. Seems like Waxl et revolving door support cast determined on making a record utterly unlike what made the original band so vital in the first place.

Hmmm. Don't think very much of CD sounds unlike GNR, except maybe Shackler's and Riad. The ballads and mid-tempo stuff sound like Illusion-era Guns, Better is very much a GNR rocker, as is IRS, and Chinese Democracy would have fit in okay on a Velvet Revolver album (IMO).

Anyway, Better is one of the best songs on its album, so that one's a no-brainer for me (and also sounds like a Guns song to me, ftr). Shadow of Your Love is decent but nothing above the level of the sort of stuff they were doing on Live Like a Suicide.

Second, mmm, toughie. We already have one version of Don't Cry through, and the acoustic You're Crazy (which I believe was actually the original arrangement) is pretty ****ing special. Will shoot with that.

    Your Crazy

Edit as stated before on the other Dont cry we voted on - this song is overrated,

I am hanging out for the real winners on the Use your illusion album such as Dead horse.

Proudly against the bring back Bennett movement since he is injury prone and won't last 5 days.
