Don't think that would matter were his opponents not feckless morons; just find fault in the other guy. All of those things are stuff he said he doesn't support/would never do or deny/minimise their current activities along those lines. The treatment of blokes like Thomas Drake is utterly disgusting and it wouldn't take much to cobble together a few pre-election quotes about whistleblower protections and couple it with that. Can outright accuse him of lying on that issue alone.

That said, for the man on the street, they're obviously not hot-button topics. Who cares if the drone programs are killing dirty foreigners, will stop them teking urr jerbs I guess.

WAG. Still remember him back in the early 2000s when he used to feature in those low budget, but largely entertaining, Indo-American movies like American Desi and Dude, Where's the Party?. Have a couple of weeks before my vacation ends, tempted to revisit those.
