In this case, it's really a perversion of law. It is a disgrace that they could hold him without charge - and the mofos forgot about him for days.

Yeah, that's truly shocking. They used/still to do it in many countries to people based on suspicion of being involved in terrorist activities, and now this.

Not buying that they forgot about him either. How the **** can they ?

Never attribute to malice what can easily be blamed on stupidity.

Well yeah, but balance of probabilities prima facie atleast suggest otherwise in this case. Especially, wrt what he is saying about noises coming in from outside of other doors opening and him kicking and screaming. Also in addition to that, surely his family/others released would have enquired about him ? How can the whole world forget that he existed? + The authorities forget that he was there kicking and screaming, when there was movement in rooms around him?

Not saying that they kept him there deliberately out of malice or something like that, but possibly had a case of mistaken identity or under some stupid law.detained him for being a suspect of a bigger crime. Which begs the question that even if he was a drug dealer should he be detained in such circumstances, violative of any basic human rights ?

The best part though is that he found drugs in the solitary confinement where he was detained for using Drugs.

Meant that in a wider sense and not to someone on here.

Though tbf, that's a slightly different and larger issue altogether and what i actually was hinting at with my initial post about such detentions.

The Associated Press: Obama voices his support for gay marriage

Not nearly soon enough but it's a big moment - the first sitting President to openly admit support for gay marriage.

Absulotely Biden deserves credit. I think his comments about being "comfortable" with the idea of gay marraige forced Obama's hand. I do think Biden's comments were off the script, as evidenced by how badly the Obama campaign handled the aftermath.

Regardless, I am extremely proud of Obama for taking this stand. This will cause him issues in Southern swing states. I hope this energizes the progressive base enough to offset the religious base that will use this as a huge campaign issue.
