Yo yanks. How serious is the release of the photo of Obama with the rifle from Camp David? Is it getting much exposure or are most people "meh" about it?

It's stupid. Nobody actually believes that he's a big gun enthusiast. Even I face-palmed at that picture.

They need to focus on background checks and closing gun show loopholes.

I'm would be tempted to write my congressman to oppose the assault weapons ban bill. On most non economic issues, I represent the liberal wing of the liberal party and I think I can get a couple hundred democratic signatures, which would make a difference in a local democratic congressional race. But my local representative is a Republican, so I don't think there's much chance of him supporting this anyway.

Haha, this is one issue where its not as easy as Republicans vs. Democrats. Even some of us crazy left wing liberals don't want blanket bans.

Did you get a chance to read my NRA post? They wield that much power because they have broad support across parties.

The big debate seems to be whether Obama does, as he claims, go skeeting all the time. "You'd never hold a gun like that....unless you want a dislocated shoulder!", "The angle of the barrel means he was shooting horizontally, not at skeet!!". etc.

Personally, the reaction shows that Americans are finally coming to a truly nightmarish realisation; they have a black guy in the White House who is no good at sport.
