They had a test for it at my old school. Got selected 4 times.

They usually just hand it out to whoever has the best grades in the senior classes at my current school so I got roped into it. Don't have to do much tbh.

Look at trundler, boasting about being school topper while also spending 80% of his time on here.

Why? Were your speeches as boring as your posts and your face?

I wrote speeches for my school captain because I used to win creative writing competitions a lot. Those ****s couldn't use their brains or think critically though. Ask them to do anything that they can't memorize and they'd **** bricks. At least at my school anyway. School captains were selected based on grades.

Yeah, I knew people who were good at those topics at school level, but heavily struggled at A Level. A good thing about essay-based subjects is that it's harder to get zero marks in a question than the likes of maths where you can often either be wrong or right- little or no space in between.

Works both ways though. In assignments with right or wrong answers you can 100/100. Wouldn't ever be the case in an essay-writing subject.

Agree about differentiation in topics between levels though. I remember one of the things I discussed with Halsey at the pub years ago was how he really enjoyed economics at A level but hated it once he got to Uni.

Not to brag, but I actually got 100/100 in a politics exam once

I could imagine economics being horrible at uni level. I imagine the difference would be learning concepts and basic equations at A Level, to needing to learn harder concepts and huge equations with Greek letters and all sorts.

Haha fair dinkum in that case. I think the highest I have ever given a law paper is about 78, or something in that region at least.

But yeah, from what I remember economics at degree level is basically just maths. It's a shame, because I find economics (and the economic analysis of law in particular) really interesting, but my mathematical capabilities are appalling.

Yeah, same. Economics seems to be one of those topics you need to know to understand how the world works but it becomes borderline impossible to a lot of us.

Yeah, I think this will bite me in the ass in the future. I can get by doing the bare minimum right now but not sure how much that'll work at higher levels. Therefore, not a nerd technically.

The idea of prefects in my time was more of a driver in the canefields.
