    I didn't have a phone until I was 16.

Just got the phone on a 24 month contract, so yeah gotta stick with that.

Who doesn't have a phone at 14 (in this day and age)?
Like GS, never got one until I was 16. I do enjoy going out to places where i get no phone reception, nothing but peace and quiet.

    I didn't have a mobile phone until I was 20.

    But that was in 1999...

And my dad didn't have his own computer until he was in his late 30s. Times change.

Think you guys are being a bit harsh on Jake tbh, would be a bit disturbed as a teenager if I knew my parents could keep track of exactly who I'm contact with. Not so now obviously, but you can surely see where he's coming from.

    I'm only 20 now.

I wasn't being harsh on him. Just saying that I didn't have a phone 6 years ago.

I find phones really annoying anyway. Whenever I leave Sydney I make sure I leave my phone at home.

I think I got my first phone when I was 19 back in 95/96.

I am at the point where I need to decide when to get my kids one. My eldest is 5. That is too young but who knows in case of emergancy. I think 10 is about right (or even younger as a parental tracking device and tool for emergancies) and mid teens for personal use.

I think they have basic phones for little kids with a can-call whitelist for emergency purposes. There are a few buttons with one number assigned to each one.

Didn't get one until the christmas before high school. Primary school kids can use the school phone and where else will they go that they will need to call their parents.

What happens when they're doing after school training or at a holiday camp and their parents don't turn up.
