Real Madrid

So what do you guys think about the upcoming season for Real?

IMO, the Beckham signing obviously is more of a marketing move because both Beckham and Figo play in the same position, in one of the games against a chinese side I think it was, Zidane, Figo and Beckham were alternating sides because every time zidane took a pass and went towards the centre, Beckham would have to either go in deep move to the left side, and when Beckham goes along the right, Figo would either go towards the centre or go through for a through pass. Thats just my opinion, I also believe the Roberto Carlos/Zidane pair are out of this world with the 1-touch passes the through balls.

Real Madrid fan are we?

Yes a great club.

Anyhow, answering your question, Real Madrid are the defending La Liga champs, so I guess they will be fabvourites, although Real Sociodad (spelling) who finshed second I believe, will be favourites, and expect big things from Barcalona.

Beckham did show on that Asian preseason tour that he can play football and that he isn't just a Marketing tool.

Personally I think Raul is the best striker in the world, he is sensational and when you combine that with Ronaldo aswell as play-makers like Zidane, Figo, Beckham & Guti then of course they're going to really pushing the the Champions League title.

The defence might be the problem and with the rumours that Makelele is off to Chelsea they're going to have to rely on the same defence that let them down last season.

Vieri, Henry, Van Nistelrooy, Mutu are all pretty good as is Shevenko of AC Milan.

Its unbelievable that the Dutch couldn't make the World Cup last year when they have 3 prolific strikers in Van Nistlerooy, Kluivert & Makaay.

Aswell as some awesome midfielders like Van Der Meyde, Van Der Vaart, Edgar Davids etc

Hertz Van Rental
Vin Diesel
Van Der Ivor (van driver) etc.

Losing to Ireland in September 2001 was a huge blow to them.

Honestly the Spannish League bores me. I think Chelsea have proved where the future of club football in europe lies, In England. Real Madrid will inevitably go bankrupt one day. The italian league is a joke now to me.
Real have great players yes, they have lots of money yes, but thats not going to last forever.

I disagree Broncoman.

Serie A have some of the world's best players and the world's best clubs. Players like Totti, Nesta, Vieri, Mutu (soon to join Chelsea), Buffon, Toldo, Rivaldo, Nadved are some of the world's best and their defence is much better then that of the EPL.

lol Chelsea the powerbase of Europe?
There are other factors that influence a player..unbelievably Ronaldinho chose Barcelona over Man Utd because Barcelona had a better lifestyle and obviously better women.

Time & time again big clubs like Barcelona & Lazio go into huge debt but there is usually a million or billionaire around to bail them out so I can't see much changing.

I have already stated my views on Real Madrid in previous threads.
