Bruce Reynolds has departed this mortal coil - not quite the last of the Great Train Robbers, as Ronnie Biggs lingers on, but I'm pretty sure he was the last survivor of those who planned it.

Shouldn't laugh but I misread that at the beginning and thought it was Burt Reynolds and was thinking how he was good in Smokey and The Bandit.

The irony being that I initially typed Burt rather than Bruce - worth a chuckle in the circumstances

Indians can't bowl - Where has the rumour come from as I myself and many indian friends arwe competent fast bowlers ?

With the English bid I said: Let us be brief. If you give back the Falkland Islands, which belong to us, you will get my vote. They then became sad and left

    RIP Richard Griffiths

The man who for those of us of a certain age will forever be Uncle Monty has passed away at only 65.

Younger readers might know him best from another "uncle" role, that of Harry Potter's in the film series.

One of those chaps who, because he was seemingly born middle aged, never seemed to get any older.

    Vale.

"I don't believe a word of Pietersen's book, but then I don't believe a word anyone else has said either."
    - Simon Barnes renders further comment on KP's autobiography superfluous in a sentence
