If money was not an issue, I'd love to go to River Plate vs Boca.

Money wouldn't be an issue after the game. As you'd have been rioted to death.

Went to River Plate v Sporting Cristal in 96, was a Copa Libertadores match iirc.

We went through 3 security checks including pat downs to get in, the ground was being patrolled by riot squad cops with rottweilers and there was razor wire around the ground. It was like an ALP right-wing faction meeting.

We were about 10 rows back on half way - really good seats which we were told were safe. No one told the nutbag sitting next to us though, who spent 60 minutes staring daggers at my wife and I.. Even the other local fans were making the "cuckoo" sign to us about him. We were the only English speakers there I think. Though the nutbag bloke evetnually understood "**** off".

Ftr River won either 5-3 or 5-2. Hernan Crespo played for them and scored with a stunning bicycle kick from the 18 yard line. The stadium has a lot of old style terraces, which were packed. Flares going off, singing, banners, was amazing.. When the crowd was chanting up in the terraces they were all stamping their feet, and you could actually feel the vibrations through the seats.

Quite an experience I can tell you.

Yeah, and of course Barca v Real.

Always remember Figo (iirc) taking a corner when he moved from one to the other, and as he was doing so the jilted fans threw a pig's head on the field at his feet...

I've been to Inter v Roma at the San Siro for the Italian Super Cup Final and it was quite an experience. At the Roma fans section there was a bloke who had his back to the game standing on a wall with his mate holding his legs up and just leading the chants for the entire game, never saw a minute. I soon learned the Italian phrase for 'Marco Materazzi piece of ****'. I was just lucky I was at the game with an American bloke who had Italian parentage, so he spoke fluent Italian (and the local dialect from the Naples area). The other thing I remember is the police pulling Roma fans as soon as they got off the subway into a bus to take them to the ground so they wouldn't have a fight with the Inter Ultras.

It was Figo. We are so boring in Australia, Gary Ablett could join the Gold Coast Suns and all the Geelong fans will just boo him. Come on, be a little bit more creative then that. But you can't expect much from the banjo playing locals.

Would love to see one of those. Most of the Derbies are worth watching I reckon.

Managed to catch Crvena Zvezda and Partizan live. Was a draw but the atmosphere was amazing. Flares, chants and fights erupting in the opposite stand. Quite a few chairs got broken by some of the Ultras over there. They were called Delije or something. As for the game, well, nothing overly spectacular and a bit of a slow paced game but still was well worth going for it.
