Anyone’s struggles with any subject within any education system can be squarely blamed on William Shakespeare.

Yep...these subjects are considered to be math-heavy subjects.

I set fire to some curtains in my school science lab without any help from Pythagoras or a pocket calculator.

The result of it was all mathematical formulas, which I have never had any time for. Probably not helped by the fact that I am incredibly bad at most things numerical.

My disdain and hatred for maths is unfortunate, however, as it increasingly comes up in my job. Somebody wanted a summary of anonymisation techniques that provided mathematical guarantees of anonymity (as opposed to techniques that do not offer that) the other day. Have no idea if what I told them was correct haha. Oh well.
What kind of math you do at work, simple calculations or Green's Theorem level stuff?

Mainly I add up the change in my pocket to see if I have enough to buy stuff out of the vending machines.

You don’t have vending machines with contactless?

Where are these vending machines you’re using? The 90s?

They have a contactless facility as well tbf, but I only buy from them when I have some change and want to use it up.

On balance, I would probably rather be Evert Christensen.

A-Level results today in England. Some kids are still going up to the school to collect their results on a bit of paper. Perhaps IT wasn't amongst their subjects.

Are we talking about the teachers or the pupils here...

I've seen teachers try to enter marks into a spreadsheet.

I just heard a woman with an American accent on her mobile complaining that she’s cold, wet and hungry. Cold and wet, fine, welcome to England. But if you’re hungry we have options.
