I agree with Blewy. AFL is so so gay. Its by far the strangest game I've ever come across. I can't figure it out. Its stupid, and dumb...

I am a rabid West Coast Eagles fan........go to Subiaco a couple times a year, watch most games on the teev.....

I wouldn't write Brisbane off just yet, Mr.Ponting. And the Weagles are a good show, providing they get a home final or two.

AFL requires players to actualy think and I suppose If you have not seen much of it you would probably be thinking what the hell is going on.

Having said that it's Australia's most popular sport apart from Fishing and Lawn bowles would you beleve!!
It draws huge crowds you just dont see 50,000+ strong crowds with other sporting codes in Australia.

In terms of participation I believe netball is no.1, yes.
But it doesn't draw 40,000 fans on a friday night though!!

I watch a bit of it sometimes cos I like a bit of skirt........it always makes me larf when a defender is trying to block a shot and the umpy says "Obstruction"......Isn't that what the defender is supposed to do??

I have been to one AFL match and that was when I was in Melbourne about four weeks ago. Not that I'm an AFL fan, just that my backpackers had the opportunity of going to a match and I had nothing to do on the day, and plus I always wanted to go to the MCG.

The match was between Melbourne and the Wayne Carey's old team the 'Roos.
