I say again, based on going to a pub with beers one hasn't tasted before.

    Wipe them out.

    All of them

Where's this English pub? I've never had much experience with English beer and would be keen to have a taste.

I'd expect a proper English pub abroad to just sell English bitters, IPA etc (although it might shift some continental or local lager). They'll probably pass some Guinness off as English as well.

Our home-brewed lagers are mostly pish. Carling's steady-ish, which is about the best you can say. The Fosters we have up here (UK brewed) is evil tho. If you like a dry lager you're beater going for numbers or beater. Or Kronenbourg & Stella to the uninitiated.

IPAs are a crisp, refreshing alternative to lager tho. If you're not scared of taste it might be worth trying one. Green King's is a superior version.

Yeah, any of the ales are well worth a go, just get on all of them. But lagers, meh, I'll drink them but tis nothing exciting

Your favourite beer (shandy) is English, though

Piss off, it's Kronenburg, end of. Your favourite is that dark brown crap that girls drink because they can't stomach coffee.

If you like the drink that much you could at least spell it properly

Proper beer>>>>>>>lager by so far anyway. A good beer should have a beginning, middle and end. Lagers are a lot easier to keep, so you're less likely to get a duff (pun intended) one, but if you make the effort to try new beers you're rewarded as often as not.
