Triple J's Hottest 100 Of All Time

Doing one of these again, as I think it's 20 years since the first one...Countdown to start on the 7th of July, and finish on Sunday 12th.

Here's the results of the previous all-times held:

    1998 | history | triple j hottest 100 - 2008 | triple j
    http://www.abc.net.au/triplej/hottes...story/1989.htm

    Chose these songs, myself:

The Smiths - This Charming Man
Joy Division - Love Will Tear Us Apart
    Bloc Party - Banquet
    Jeff Buckley - Last Goodbye
Doves - The Man Who Told Everything
Interpol - Stella Was A Diver And She Was Always Down
    Jebediah - Harpoon
    Radiohead - Fake Plastic Trees
    José González - Heartbeats
Bob Dylan - Like A Rolling Stone
Didn't know whether or not to choose True Love Waits or Fake Plastic Trees from Radiohead. Think Heartbeats really only got a run because it's been on high rotation post-breakup. Had to choose an Interpol song of some sort, and Stella's probably the best of them.

They played 'Love Will Tear Us Apart' on Triple J this morning when they were promoting the contest. Not a huge fan myself, so may be the only person in Australia not to vote for it.

The color of immortality, nature and envy - you are truly a unique person. While clearly the color of nature, you also symbolize rebirth, fertility and hope in the world. On the other side of the spectrum, a natural aptitude to money with green coming to signify money and possibly even *********!

****, only ten songs is so hard. Can't believe I haven't nom'd any Metallica, Pink Floyd or other stuff, but it was probably too hard to pick one song out of all of theirs. If I did this again tomorrow, would probably have a few different.

    Went for:
    Bob Dylan - Ain't Talkin'
David Bowie - Life On Mars?
The Beatles - A Day in the Life
Jimi Hendrix - All Along the Watchtower
The Rolling Stones - Paint It Black
    Led Zeppelin - Immigrant Song
Nirvana - Smells Like Teen Spirit
The Doors - Riders On The Storm
    John Lennon - Imagine
Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds - Red Right Hand

The generational difference in the average J listener age will probably see that Love Will Tear Us Apart won't win. Nirvana #1 I imagine.

Smells Like Teen Spirit won the last one so it'd have to start favourite to win it again.

Easily the worst system ever, particularly given there are already 2000 songs in the pool from the previous 100's. a simple list system would have been fine.

Anal **** certainly have an interesting name.

And Anal Blast with their song 'Tampon Tea Bag' are original.

How'd the Backstreet Boys get on these lists?
