Melbourne - places to drink

So, it's Melbourne on Thursday and Friday for work for me this week.

I've watched Underbelly so I know I have to weat all black when I go out.

Question is, where should I head for a beer (staying in Collins Street BTW, and only for Thursday night)?

Your hotel.

I know, I know, no need to thank me.

Anyway, Jack suggested Riverland to me when I was there - might be a bit lah-de-dah for a pokie-playing scumbag like yourself, but it's certainly a nice setting. Literally right behind the bar Transport opposite Southern Cross station down a set of stairs.

Well, my hotel looks pretty damn good so that might be it. Also within walking distance of Mens Gallery, Spearmint Rhino and other establishments of decent repute.

*Flinders St station.

If the weather is good, then the Belgian Beer Cafe on St. Kilda Rd usually gets some traffic, and plenty to geeze at, on the Friday night. Just get a tram along Swanston St and head away from Melbourne University.

There's a pub just up from West Richmond station that's not bad either...can't remember what it's called exacrtly but something along the lines of 'The Kingston'. I think we went to the bar Jack recommended, just down from Transport along the river there is a nice bar with an outdoor area overlooking the Yarra.

Yeah, been to the Kingston a couple of times, but don't know what it'd be like during the week. Very nice pub, either way.

Plenty of good options in and around Melbourne. I agree that Riverland is a good option. Terrific setting down on the Yarra, plenty of seating, relaxing atmosphere.

Might depend on where on Collins St you are staying. Solid options down both ends of Collins St.
