Colour me completely unsurprised at the winner too, picked it before I even read the articles about it.
Hmm, tend to more be the song that Triple J plays a bit, then commercial stations play the living bejesus out of, that tends to win/go well. At least over the past few years.

    Ref: Silverchair - Straight Lines
Kings of Leon - Sex on Fire
    MGMT - Electric Feel

Why is it mildly depressing when a band you knew years ago suddenly become massive?

    13.Phoenix - 1901
    17.Kasabian - Fire
24.Flight Of The Conchords - Carol Brown
    26.Metric - Help I'm Alive
30.Flight Of The Conchords - Hurt Feelings
    65.Eskimo Joe - Foreign Land
    76.Julian Casablancas - 11th Dimension

The hottest 100 countdown wasn't as exciting as previous years, I guess it doesn't help when you know what number 1 is for sure.

I can't believe Broken Leg made the top 10. Must admit I do have that song on my Ipod, but I didn't have a clue it was at all popular.

I am getting really out of touch. I recognise about 5 songs in the list. Doesn't phase me tbh.

    Yeah but even if the commercial stations picked up no tracks from JJJ, can guarantee the playlists will somewhat dictate popularity. Also;

    77.Jet - She's a Genius

Parlez Vous Francais? is the best track in the top 10 and IMO should've won.

'I liked them because they made good music, not becuase they are popular' maybe? Has happened with Animal Collective TBH.

The song that won is actually pretty good IMO, which is a bit of a rarity for the Hottest 100 winner.

Still maintain that Sigh No More > Little Lion Man, but it's a good song nonetheless.

My main problem with Little Lion Man is that it gets worse as it goes on imo.
