It's treatable by current drugs, and seems to have a very low mortality rate even when left alone. The regular flu probably has killed more people in Mexico.

Well the common population are afraid because they're idiots.
The health organizations are worried because this strain seems to mutate quite regularly.

I am not saying it's not a concern. I'm saying the media hysteria is ludicrous. The only people who should be worried are organizations like the CDC, by keeping a close eye on the strain. Normal people shouldn't be worried about it - certainly not enough to start wearing masks. I saw one idiot wearing a mask in Philadelphia - no confirmed cases in the state!

Maybe it's a power more knowledgable than thou? The philosophical theory at least is that a battle exisits between thoughts or intended actions, with the most powerful idea winning, hence e-motion . Therefore it would seem in the media's best interest to overblow most situations as a measure to control the actions/thoughts of a society, as if the issue is labelled minor people just look to the bigger crisis to overcome and perhaps don't act in the intended/safest way.

Seems to fit the way in which people are often drawn to such pessimistic things such as global cooling/warming, world ending in 2010-11-12-... and you're all going to die/go to hell, as fear from these can draw the dominant response from the mind, rather than other pedestrian occurances, perhaps too because they pertain to a goal.

There was a jolly good english scientist on the news tonight claiming we haven't had a pandemic since 1962 and we are probably due

Unfortunately that all falls down when I mention the media has no desire to have a global dictatorship run by itself (unless we're talking Richard Murdoch and his Fox buddies). however I do agree the media these days is manipulated to suit a particular viewpoint, hence you have papers like The Guardian and The Daily Mail along with the Fox Network.

Having a near 24 hour odessy to Ho Chi Minh City from Hoi An in Vietnam (that is the rail system for you in Vietnam) and needing to recharge my itouch (you know, basically an ipod) and when I put my USB cable into the computer and into my ipod, it reads it as I can use it to access the itunes store for example, but it won't charge, and hell I have borrowed an ipod nano charger where I could plug the USB end in, but it simply would not let it charge up. Why? It can't be that hard to make it so you can charge it in the USB port of a computer, now can it?

Whose brilliant idea was it to let Craig near technology? Someone obviously enjoys keeping him angry.
