    He Didn't - The 6ths w/Bob Mould

Stephen Merritt of the Magnetic Fields teams up with the Husker Du/Sugar uber god. It's an American indie slam dunk.

Quite gorgeous too; just piano and Robert's voice.
    - As featured in The Independent.

"Predictably, the ending of his international career did not end the argument about Pietersen's merits, as an army of informed commentators and Piers Morgan weighed in to defend or attack him."

Amerika, by Rammstein. I can't say I understand all the lyrics, and it seems inaccurate, but it's ace.

Hey, it is the 90s, after all.

    On that theme:

    Fixer - Vent 414

Miles Hunt's short-lived post Stuffies band, also featuring Morgan from The Senseless Things on bass and Pete Howard on drums, who briefly occupied the stool for The Clash when Topper Headon's smack issues got too bad.

Very much in the same idiom as The Wonder Stuff and, as such, at odds with the rest of their debut (and only) album, probably because it wasn't produced by Steve Albini. The Albini-overseen material is much harder edged.

    Arctic Monkeys - 2013

Belter. Only a b side but, befitting of their status as the only worthy successors to Oasis, they have quite the habit of sticking good tunes on the flip sides.

The Naked And Famous - Hearts Like Ours (Audio) - YouTube

Fantastic lead single for the upcoming second album. I was worried about how they were going to follow up their debut, but this sounds really promising.

The Veils - Out From The Valley (Live from Abbey Road) HD - YouTube

An unexpected standout in the two gigs I went to over the weekend. The studio version isn't as strong as some of the others on the album, but it goes to another level live. That ending was immense.
