Night Comes Creeping - Screaming Trees

Surprisingly jaunty poptastic early effort from their Inivisible Lantern LP. Ends in swatches of feedback, but a very Neil Young solo from Gary Lee Connor.

Burial ~ Truant

Anything by Burial is quality but I'm not sure that this has the evocative, oppressive atmosphere or drive that some of his finest work (read: Kindred) had. Seems a bit "easy" to listen to. On ****ty headphones mind so may change my mind.

The Mars Volta - Eriatarka

Love the guitar intro, eerie yet beautiful. Chorus falls back on the more typical hectic-yet-tight volta feel, but I'm not complaining.

My Daydream - The Colourphonics

Really very lovely indeed; very 70s, laid back, almost jazzy kinda vibe. Loving the understated brass too, arranged by some fella called Corey Taylor...?

Lass (who the liner notes tell me is Miranda Maz, on loan from The Irresponsibles) has a gorgeous soul voice too.

Well played, T_C, well played indeed.

Arctic Monkeys - Crying Lightning

Really is one of their best songs, just magical. The second verse as the guitar licks kick in and Alex churns out lyrics like he's a rapper, it's just magic. ****ing genius he is.

The Last Shadow Puppets - My Mistakes Were Made For You.

Opened this thread and saw the **** above mention Alex which immediately had the effect of this song playing in my head.

Innocence and Arrogance entwined in the filthiest of minds has to be one of my favourite lyrics.
