We Could've Been Someone - The Blackeyed Susans
Continuing my Dave McComb obsession, I've just procured All Souls Alive recorded during his brief tenure in TBS. Truly, truly wonderful. Big, tear-stained torch song that nearly but never quite dissolves into a feedback squall at the end. Gives the impression of standing firm against the ****.

Lola Stars & Stripes - The Stills
Love a band who know their music onions. Logic Will Break Your Heart a ****ing top name for an album. Have a song called Yesterday Never Tomorrow too. So Stephen Stills, Neil Young & The Fabs for those playing along at home. Yep, good starting points, chaps. |

****in' oath. Brilliant song, superb bass line, liberal use of the xylophone. What more can you ask for? Underrated album too.

The entire album has been laser-engraved into my skull, the old man used to play it loads when I was little. Was good friends with the frontman iirc. |

Currently listening to Transcendental Youth, the new album by the Mountain Goats. I loved The Sunset Tree, but this one definitely pushes it close.
Godspeed You! Black Emperor have been in high rotation as well. Last edited by Dan; 08-10-2012 at 02:48 AM. |

I've been too nervous to admit I listen to pop music in this thread. So thanks for breaking the ice. My iPod is full of heavy metal, rock, and alternative, so I need stuff like Madonna to break it up to get the right mix.

The Cat Empire - So Many NIghts
I should hate Cat Empire for constantly repeating songs about how different they are, but it's all very sincerely cheerful and I can't help but find it charming. |
