All This Useless Beauty - Elvis Costello & The Attractions

Beautifully restrained piano-led ballad from mid period Elv.

Demons - Super Furry Animals

Top notch pop wooziness from Welsh psychedelics enthusiasts. Gorgeously subtle brass in the middle eight and heart-stoppingly wonderful liquid-sounding electric piano.

Main bod Gruff Rhys twiddled the nobs on Miles Kane's solo album, one notes.

Northern Lights - Ian Brown

Blissed out, dub-bass heavy, quietly exultant epic from King Monkey's Music of The Spheres solo-career highlight LP.

Are you talking about the 5th song in this album?

It's the sixth song on my copy.

Anyway:

Just Lookin' - The Charlatans

To continue the post-Madchester vibe.

Fake Tales of San Francisco - Arctic Monkeys

Love the way the bass and guitar synch.

Have been listening to quite a bit of Flaming Lips and Wilco recently, and it reinforced what a debt a lot of these bands owe to The Kinks.

Cue:-

The Kinks - Powerman - YouTube

Kinks - Powerman

Fantastic and often overlooked song fom the maestro.
