Yeah I understand that, but that's different to saying "he's ****".

I mean sorry, but people fawn over Nick Cave. I think he's the most over-rated tosspot in the history of music. I like a couple of his songs, but he's got the worlds worst voice, IMO. Like the bloke from Elbow. Honestly, if I was contemplating suicide I'd choose to listen to those two blokes to make sure I went through with it. And I'd like to do the world a favour by taking them both with me. I just don't get the love.

But others do, and fair play to them. I'm not going to turn around and say "They're ****". I may well say "I think they're ****" though.

A subtle, but important difference.

but when i talk about music I presume i don't need to say 'i think'. Certainly when other people say "artist (x) is ****" i understand their just saying their opinion. there's no need to say "i think" imo. everyone should know that people are just saying what they think. there's no need to waste time and say i think, imo, etc.

I have met people who genuinely think that their musical opinion is perfect and objective, and hence when they say "that's awesome" or "that's ****" the IMO is not implied. Can get very tiresome being called a moron, or tasteless, or whatever because you might disagree - or agree too strongly. Best to leave them alone, even if they do provide a excellent steady source of fine music that you may not have heard of.

Honestly, I haven't really noticed a lot of the kind of musical elitism on here lately that Burgey is talking about. Maybe when Mitchell was around. Most of the people who do voice strong musical opinions tend to back them up. The level of vitriol falls well short of the average CC debate.

Foo Fighters do indeed suck ftr.

I don't think it happens as much as it used to but I don't think you can only blame Mitchell.

I always got the impression Mitchell was doing it tongue in cheek and pretty much to piss people off. Agree with Fullins though, I don't really think there are many (if any really) people who just go throwing around their opinion and **** talking other people's without much back up.

Apart from that **** corrin ofc.

Question to the Foo Fighters haters though. Do you not like either of the first two albums? Seems like the sort of music that would go down okay with the CW crowd
