Adele - Rolling in the Deep

Excessively popular at the moment, I know, but I think she deserves it - what a voice.

Sorry mate, this is CW. If it's popular, you aren't allowed to like it. You've been here long enough to know that.

How the **** did this not make it on the album? Better than half of it. Really uplifting track, and feels much more compact than 7 minutes.

Some good calls on this page. Supercollider is a great tune, and I like Spiritualized too. Saw them courtesy of Nick Cave when he curated All Tomorrow's Parties a couple of years back. Probably the highlight of the day aside from Nick himself.

    i have a love-hate relationship with jason's drug lyrics tbh. that's one i don't much like.

as for genius, i dunno know, he's an extreme perfectionist. having one mix in one channel and another in the other like on Pure Phase and managing to make it work, i suppose that's pretty genius. but it's not like instant genius. he just keeps on working. funnily enough a lot of the demos you hear of Spacemen 3 are way better than the final versions, so i guess it sometimes work and sometimes doesn't. personally prefer early spz too

YouTube - Verlaines - "Death & the Maiden" video

proof NZ isn't a useless waste of space.

Great tune, though IMO the demo version they had out in 2006 is better.

It's a harrowingly honest lyric, which is why I like it. On the page it doesn't read as great poetry, but the way he sings it it sounds as if he's actually giving something of himself away to his audience/listener. Too many songs about drug abuse are couched in overly romanticised imagery so it's refreshing to hear it stripped of its cant.

&, whats that phrase about genius, 90% perspiration and 10% inspiration? I think Pierce is absolutely dedicated to his vision and if it has 700 takes to get it to sound like it does in his head, he will.

Anyway, continuing my smack rat theme:

Them Bones - Alice in Chains
