Muse - Neutron Star Collision (Love Is Forever)
Mixed feelings about this. On the one hand, it's the official theme song for the ****ing Twilight movie. On the other, it's ****ing immense. |

Haha seriously? I thought their last album was bad enough, but this song's reaching new depths of mediocrity. Lyrics are cringeworthy while their sound doesn't seem to have progressed at all since Knights of Cydonia.

Fair enough. You're right about the lyrics, but that's nothing new for Mr Bellamy.
I think it's a bit harsh to say their sound hasn't progressed, though. IMO, they were quite innovative in The Resistance, which they produced themselves. And I understand they've been sitting on this song for a while (and I remember hearing instrumental bits from it during the Black Holes and Revelations tour), so it's not surprising that it has some similarities with KOC. With their last album, they seem to have suffered from an overabundance of ideas. Undisclosed Desires, I Belong to You et al. all strike me as interesting experiments but not ones that are done brilliantly (and yes the lyrics have much to do with that. Muse have never been brilliant lyricists but the thing is that they have usually covered it up with instrumental excellence. But when you make an instrumentally minimalist song, kinda hard to get away from it). There are moment of brilliance - most of Exogenesis (except the start of part 3 which is just too long IMO) and bits of United States of Eurasia (the piano harmonies mostly), but they can do better than that.
