Passenger plane crash-lands into Hudson River, everyone survives

Airplane crash-lands into Hudson River; all aboard reported safe

Pretty incredible.

Amazing tbh, absolute full credit to the pilot through, completely nailed a bang on landing on water, kept his nerve and almost skimmed it accross the surface

Then walked down the plane twice to make sure everyone was off! For that, well, downright bravery (so much as a little pressure from the outside could've caused something to send it down VERY fast) he deserves full plaudits

Oh bird, why?

Regardless, good to hear everyone is okay. Definitely kudos to the pilot for keeping his cool. Air travel despite being statistically very safe is probably the most "scary" to people and I can't imagine what must've been going through everyone's minds when the damage happened.

What an amazing miracle. I've been glued to the TV all day watching the survivors recall the incident.

This is an incredible story. I was actually there today and I saw it happen live. I was on the New Jersey turnpike this afternoon northbound towards New York taking my cousin to his job interview when I saw the plane coming in. At first I didn't think any thing of it but once I noticed how low the plane was I knew something was wrong. WHile driving I kept an eye on the plane and it just slowly got lower and lower and from my angle it just hid behind a building when it hit the water, so I didn't see it hit the water. I knew something was wrong, so I told my cousin instead of taking the lincoln tunnel into the city, I'll take the george washington bridge to see whats up. I got to the bridge almost 10 laters and from the bridge i could see the plane in the water it was a horrifying seen I was so scared at that moment thinking it was another terrorist attack. Thankfully it was nothing like that and everyone got out alive

Absolute miracle. For every Mumbai bombing, every Gaza attack, every other horrible event that kills dozens of people, there's an incident like this. They don't all get publicised, but there are heroes like Chesley Sullenberger III (the pilot - what a name) all over the place, saving lives without a second thought. Really amazing affirmation of how awesome this planet is.
