    Haha.

As for this thread, anything that would render a person incapable of performing their own basic functions would have to be in the conversation. Probably a plethora of those though.

What a morbid thread. Now I'm worried about all sorts of things that could do wrong. Slowly losing control of your body and bring constantly in agony just about sounds like the worst thing that could happen to a person. I'd rather be euthanized.

    I'm a disability support worker.

Seen plenty of happy/positive blind people, MS sufferers etc Parkinsons and amputees too. Dementia is tougher for the family, the victim is rarely that unhappy unless they're in the early stages and quite young then they're kinda terrified til it progresses then they often become pleasantly confused and oblivious.

But by and large the schizophrenics are by far the most tortured souls. Nearly all miserable. Mental illness really hinders your ability to connect with other people in a meaningful way which is really tough

Probably exacerbated by the fact that a lot of people conflate schizophrenia with other types of personality disorders (e.g. multiple personality disorder).

Mental and emotional torture combined would be horrible. I can't imagine the overriding sense of hopelessness and helplessness.

Seriously though, sounds like a rough time fella. All going well now? And more importantly, were the nurses hot?

My family has a history of neurological disorders/cancer

Mom's an epileptic and while shes fine now, a few year's back, all it would take was some mildly stressful situation to induce horrific looking seizures. Dad's a cancer patient because of lifelong tobacco use, and can barely speak anymore but all things considered, is about as positive and physically active as is humanly possible. I was diagnosed with Hodgkins a few years back, and thankfully the prognosis wasn't too bad at all, and it's basically completely gone now. So we all honestly got off remarkably easy tbh.

Concur that Alzheimer's is the worst imo, especially for the rest of the family. Several of my aunts/uncles had it and it's pretty much my worst nightmare to end up like that.
