With MND not only do you remain completely aware of what's happening to you, you lose motor function over time and, slowly, lose the abillity to do stuff like breathe or swallow unaided. Stephen Hawking is a freak for living as long as he has with it.

But yeah, having asked a few disability nurses about it, it's unanimously considered the worst to treat. You know it won't end well and you know it's going to be painful for the person and they can't express it. Oh yeah, it's also a painful condition, unlike someething like MS, and I've heard a few stories from nurses about how they'll be feeding an advanced MND patient and they'll see one tear, that being the only expression left and the only way they can let the nurse know they're in extreme pain.

Ironic, I was thinking about this earlier today.

Blindness, for the reasons the others have stated. Also concur with PF - Alzheimers might be terrible for the family, but at least you yourself are not aware of it, nor their suffering. Would rather not be aware of my suffering, in short, even if the result is worse.

Anything that attacks the brain (like MND).

    With Top_Cat.

Although having seen a mate who is now virtually a vegetable and has to live in a Nursing Home because that's the only place with the appropriate facilities for him, despite being 22, that has to be bad. Especially when he was beaten up on his 20th birthday, causing the injuries.

Is this the guy from Carey with the hyphenated-name? There have been quite a few articles in the paper about him over the years.

And I agree wholeheartedly. MND... you lose all external functionality and are completely aware of your plight.

From what I understand, it's pretty mild for most people though, isn't it? Just can't eat too much spicy food and such.

    Maybe not all things.

    Anyway, blindness for mine.

Was not an entirely serious post. Although no curry or chilli would not be a good life...
