Even during these hard times it's still a great place to go to top up funds, although I'm not discounting things getting much worse

    England:

The language - best thing we ever gave the world. Remarkable, illogical, lyrical and infinitely flexible.

Football, cricket, rugby - we gave you them all, you ungrateful feckers. Remember than next time you beat us.

The music - The Beatles, The Smiths, The Clash, The Kinks, The Jam, Madness, Elvis Costello; we do ok.
Cricket Web's 2013/14 Premier League Tipping Champion

    - As featured in The Independent.

"as much a news event as an actual footballer, a worthy stop-start centre forward, but an all-time hyper-galactico when it comes to doing funny things with cars and hats, a player whose signing proves once again that the Premier League is still undoubtedly the best in the world when it comes to doing things with cars and hats."
    - Barney Ronay on Mario Balotelli

That's funny, I could've swore it was us reminding you about that every time we beat you...

    - Having a chat and saying hello to people at the bus stop.
    - So much history condensed into one small place. So much is underappreciated (including by myself) but you are seldom more than a 15 min drive from a place of historical interest.
    - Drinking. Admittedly many in the Country do it poorly and to excess but drinking and socialising with the English is a breath of fresh air. Few people laugh and drink so freely.
    - The density of achievement. The famous and talented across so many fields seem to spring freely from English soil.
    - Discount outlets
    - English breakfast, HP sauce, fish and chips
    - Literary Excellence.
    - Sense of community

    USA
    - No dominating culture so free to live in a more relaxed fashion.
    - Food.
    - Wide roads and easy driving
    - Fantastic investment into good universities and military programs that have produced so much.
    - Choice and low costs

Uniqueness (there's really nowhere remotely like here)
    Great food
Humour- a perfect mix between English subtlety and Irish eejitry.

    It's just Home.

    England
    Great people
Awesome for sport, particularly love the football there
    Great for music
    Same drinking culture as above
    Multi-culturalism
Everything you could ever need being a relatively short distance away

Love the thread idea. We should have a counter-thread, for listing things we hate about our countries.
