Flip out screen and something to do with video recording, so both of those features are related to each other (i.e. viewing video. on the flip screen). If you plan on doing a lot of videos, go with the 600D, otherwise the 550D is a good choice and I've been stoked with it's performance since I've gotten it.

UQ had a showcase last night where you could try out a heap of different Canon and Nikon stuff. Used the 5D Mk III with the 16-35mm 2.8L, 50mm 1.2L, 70-200mm f2.8 L with image stabilisation, and the 300mm f2.8L lenses...it was incredibly dangerous. Loved the 16-35 and the 50mm, and am wondering if I can work out a way to save enough to trade in my 70--200 f4 non IS and get the 70-200mm Mk II with IS...it was incredible to hand hold. The 50mm would be a waste of money for me, but it was lovely to use.

The 300mm nearly broke my wrist after 2 mins of hand-holding it.

And the 5D Mk III is a fantastic camera. At an ISO of 12000 the pics still look good. It's become a matter of time before I pull the trigger...and then the 16-35mm becomes a necessity too.

Anybody here do time lapse photography or videos?

I'm dabbling a bit with both at the moment. Haven't done anything too exciting with the time lapse yet, as I've only had the remote/intervalometer a week or so. Have a good robust tripod but could probably do with a ultrapod or gorillapod when I go on my walks. Plan on going to Seal Sands sometime in the future to get the seals lazing about with tide coming in/out - don't have a filter so I can't do direct sunsets etc.

So anyways, how long is it going to be before the next DSLR with internet (Twitter, FB, Flickr, Instacrap, etc) capabilities comes out?

Some nice photos on this page.

How many clams would I need to fork out for a semi reasonable camera? As in, something that would take good photos p, not something I'd bring when I'm out for a few beers.

You could go for something like the 550/600/650D (or the Nikon equivalent). If you bought something like this with a kit it'd be a good start. The next step up is the 60D. If you're willing to buy online and think you're going to be usingit a bit then I'd probably buy something like the 7D from Kogan or Digital Direct Photographics.

You can get the 650D for about $599 with one kit lens or $799 for two. Check around the major retailers, but you won't get near that price unless you find a sale somewhere. Places like Ted's Cameras consider a sale to be 10% off, which still won't match online.

I've bought from DPP before and they're also good.

Kogan is just the best isn't it?

Been considering getting a 600D for a while now, but have again had to put those plans on hold thanks to my phone & laptop simultaneously kicking the bucket

Cheers. Planning a trip to Sri Lanka and I feel my 14 mega pixel digital camera won't quite be sufficient....

You could always try one of these too mate, bit smaller but have interchangeable lenses. They're getting pretty good. Especially if you spend a bit more on one. The Olympus OMD is supposed to be very good. Check out how they go for night shots though, cheaper ones maybe not so good.
