Just bought a new tripod set-up to replace the one I lost a couple of weeks back. Will be annoyed if someone rings now saying they've found it...but I don't think it'll happen.
Got the Manfrotto 055CXPRO3 (just the legs in the picture, not the head):
With the Markins Q3-Q head (slightly different to this, a bit wider at the base):
...and had to buy the PG40-N plate to attach the camera to the ball-head separately:
Cost quite a bit more than my old set-up (which I could've bought again for $250). Was AU$580 altogether. I looked at prices in Australia though and thought the massive difference kind of justified the purchase. I was also looking at getting a sturdier ball-head than the last one anyway, as it used to slip a bit with my 70-200mm lens attached to the camera. Was annoying when composing a shot, as you had to aim slightly higher than you intended and then hope the camera settled at the right spot when it dropped a few mm's.
If you order online in Oz the cheapest price for the tripod is $545. The ball-head and plate have to be ordered from Korea anyway and cost $310 and $50 respectively. Total: $905. So Basically I paid for the tripod and plate, and got the head thrown in free
Now to get a bag that can hold a tripod so I don't lose the ****ing thing! And to hope it hasn't put too much of a dent in my 24-70mm buying plans. And that it's not fake![]()

Yeah have been thinking about a tripod as well, Manfrotto seem to be getting good reviews, although not sure how much I'll use it to justify the expense.
Rest In Peace Craigos

Also posted this in WP, but wondering if anyone can help me here. I seem to be getting a weird looking scratch in the top left of my photos:

Some sort of dust or dirt. Either on the rear element of the lens or the sensor.
If you have a second lens, put that on and take a photo. If the line isn't there, then clean the rear element of the other lens with a decent lens cloth. If it is get a rocket blower and blow out the inside of the camera body.
Andy, not Nathan. NOT Nathan. My left hand is reserved for lighting cigarettes.
Yeah, it could be on the sensor. Be careful going anywhere near the sensor if it is, but the rocket blower idea is a good one. Unfortunately, if it is on the sensor and you wanted to get it cleaned it costs a fortune in Australia I think. The other option is to learn how to do it yourself.
Or...if you have photoshop or lightroom you could just remove the mark from the picture.
Thanks guys. SoC which tool would you use in photoshop?
You might not even need photoshop. Your camera should have a feature called "Dust off Image Ref" or similar. You select the option, and then take a white frame shot. The camera will work out where the dust is and compensate when you take any subsequent shots.
In an editing program, you want to use the Clone tool.
I used the spot healing brush on mine. Had quite a few specks of dust on the sensor that used to show up before I got it cleaned. This worked fine, not sure how it will go on a little line though.
Was very interested to find out that it costs around $120-150 in Australia to get the camera sensor cleaned. Here it cost 10000 won, which is about $9 at current exchange rates - and that was at the Canon Service Centre.
Someone's taking the piss somewhere, surely!?
Found an unlocked rooftop opposite the Lotte Wheel here in Ulsan yesterday afternoon. Think I'll be heading back up for some more shots at another time:

'Retouch' in Aperture is working like a charm, thanks guys. Will post some pictures of the trip shortly.
A couple from the Jinju Lantern Festival in October:
Could get to try my hand at war photography if North Korea don't settle down in the next few weeks!
Post some pictures, ****s!
