Went to the Jinju Lantern Festival on the weekend. Turn out lanterns are almost as boring as fireworks, but it was good to experience it at least. Rained too, so I ended up snuggling the camera under an umbrella whilst juggling a tripod and ducking inside to change lenses occasionally.

Got a couple of HDRs and think this one turned out ok, although I might crop it a bit. Need to work on the halo around the trees too a little:

This is another HDR:

Two non-HDR:

A flower:

And the lighthouse near Songjeong Beach:

I wonder if anyone else has given any thought to entering the Canon EOS Photo5 competition? I received my box a couple of days ago, should be an interesting challenge although I know I'm no chance of winning anything.

I hadn't heard of it until now, but will be entering if I can get everything in time...will be tight and I have no chance either. Sounds like fun though!

Edit: Looks like I've missed the registration date...will enter something in the open brief though if I can.

Maybe next year I'll have a go at the box thing.

I would've, but I didn't have it then. It's a shot from back in July. Actually, I wouldn't have as this was with the 70-200mm and it doesn't fit haha

Here's a photo I took a little while ago here in Ulsan. Will have to head back and see if I can get a bicycle crossing I think, as that was the original idea:

That's one photo??! Absolutely stunning! I'd be looking to sell that - though probably outside of Korea if that's a common sight

Could probably pick up a few photography competitions on the web.

Thanks mate, yeah it is one photo. The black section is the bridge she was walking on. I got a bit lucky as I arrived a little late and caught her walking across just after I'd seen a bicycle pass.

I think I might have to head back there in the near future, that shot was taken in July. Have to actually start getting out to the places I've been noting down as good to take pics!

I did enter it in a competition here just after it was taken, don't think it won though. Not sure the competition went ahead actually...will try to get it in some though and see how it goes. Have just noted a slight reflection on the bottom of the bridge, might have to get rid of that first haha

Good shot that. I'd thought for sure you'd stitched two photos together.

Yeah part of the reason I want to get Square filters so they can be used on any lens

I would've gone that way too if they were easy to get here in South Korea. Definitely the best option, expecially if you can afford good ones like Lee. I'm going to look into it when I get home, might have to wait a while though. Would love some graduated neutral density filters.

According to the Lee site, there's only two retailers in Australia. One in NSW and one in Victoria, except the NSW store doesn't have a website...which is strange.

Prices aren't cheap but from all reports they don't produce any unwanted colour tinges and I guess they're like lenses in a way, once you buy them they should last ages.

Here's the Victoria site. Vanbar Online Catalogue

I guess the effects from these filters are worth it
