Did a little, just the usual though - bit of colour correction and some sharpening. Nothing out of the ordinary. Didn't cut and paste the flower into position or change the colours. The light is coming from a light on the path off to the left of the flower. Can post the original if you like so you can see what the difference is.

Might give it a bit more contrast to see how it goes.

    Photography Thread

(Kindly merge with the older thread, can't seem to find it).

I bought a Panasonic DMC-LX3. The other option I was considering was Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ35. Did I make a wise decision? I am a photography enthusiast and would like to take quality pictures. So long I have used crap Sony Cybershot cameras which have given be very poor results.

I think you're looking for the 'Which Camera Do You Own?' thread

It sounds like a very decent compact camera mate. I see it has manual controls, which are good if you want to advance you photography past the simple 'put it on Auto or P and press the button' stage - gives you more control.

Think it'll suit your needs nicely (not sure how much photography you do, but if you were using a Cybershot before then it's probably a step up).

The next step from there would be an entry-level dSLR I'd imagine, which I'd only consider if you find yourself getting frustrated at a lack of control over certain things or start wondering how someone got certain shots and find out your camera doesn't give you the option.

I've seen some shots from the latest compact cameras though and what they can do is pretty amazing.

Thanks. The only thing lacking is the zoom. The other camera was cheaper and had 18x zoom. But this has far better quality photographs apparently, so I opted for it. I have been seeing some pics taken by this camera on flickr and they are awesome.

I absolutely love photography but the cybershot has limited me greatly. Hopefully with this I can take some good pics. I am in Mirzapur where my factory is located. Hopefully I can capture India through my eyes with this camera. I also have access to neighbouring villages, Varanasi, Allahabad. So lot of promise.

Never said I unzip my fly. Photography in the harshest of conditions is what it's all about, a true test.

I got to test a K-x a few weeks ago. It's definitely a good camera that punches above its weight, but I wasn't a huge fan of the ergonomics of it. I have pretty big hands, and it's just too small for me to use it comfortably. The flash sync speed is really slow, too. I like the button layout, though.

The big advantage is that there are heaps of old K-mount lenses around the place that you can buy cheap and use on it, even if you have to manually focus with them. It uses AA batteries, too, so as long as you're near a servo or something you'll never be caught with dead batteries.

Wouldn't be my choice, but it is still a decent bit of kit for the price.

Have been going back through photos taken in November and December last year to stick on Facebook and some photo websites. Here are a few I took of flowers from around that time:

Think a couple could be cropped a bit differently though, especially the last - needs to be a bit closer I think.

How much did you pay for that? Just curious cos I knew someone who would've been willing to give away one of these.
