    The Wire

    What a show.

    From wiki:

Tim Goodman of the San Francisco Chronicle wrote that The Wire "has tackled the drug war in this country as it simultaneously explores race, poverty and 'the death of the American working class,' the failure of political systems to help the people they serve and the tyranny of lost hope. Few series in the history of television have explored the plight of inner-city African Americans and none—not one—has done it as well."
The Los Angeles Times took the rare step of devoting an editorial to the show, stating that "even in what is generally acknowledged to be something of a golden era for thoughtful and entertaining dramas—both on cable channels and on network TV—The Wire stands out."
    The peak of television, IMO.

Haha, I was just going to post about The Wire on the Best/Worst of TV thread. I just finished watching the Season 5 DVD. I donít think Iíve ever seen a show on TV be as consistently brilliant as The Wire. While The Sopranos is still my personal favorite, there were large patches of hit and miss with that show. Not so with The Wire. It was great from the beginning to the end. Iím going to go back and watch all of Season 5 episodes with the commentaries on!

FX over here started showing it from stratch & thought I'd give it a go, but only lasted a few episodes. Can see why it's so well regarded & like the way it doesn't spoon-feed its audience, but CBA to make the emotional/time commitment.

    - As featured in The Independent.

"as much a news event as an actual footballer, a worthy stop-start centre forward, but an all-time hyper-galactico when it comes to doing funny things with cars and hats, a player whose signing proves once again that the Premier League is still undoubtedly the best in the world when it comes to doing things with cars and hats."

If you were disappointed with the pace of it, then bear with it for the first 3 or 4 episodes. After that, itís hard not to get addicted to the thing.

It is the best TV show ever made. Nothing else on the screen can match its depth.

Stringer Bell, Avon Barksdale, Omar and Snoop are pure awesomeness. Can't watch them when they're on TV, it's the type of show where I have to watch all the episodes in a row to really get into it. Lucky for me I've got all the DVD's.

After watching it, you'd be cursing the fact that they ONLY made 5 season.
