Not exactly a surprising list tbh. Quite like a lot of the stuff on there mind you.

Kid A certainly my favourite album of the decade, right at the start of it but nothing has topped it for me. Some good stuff in that list though and I don't think it is an abomination, love Funeral and White Stripes are great and cannot complain too much with Strokes coming out on top. It NME though so it is not all that surprising the sort of music you find in it, missing Nick Cave and no Bob Dylan either, Love and Theft and Modern Times both worthy of mention. My other favourite album of the decade Joanna Newsom's Ys is also missing. Much prefer this list from Pitchfork Pitchfork: Staff Lists: The Top 200 Albums of the 2000s: 20-1and not just because my favourite album came out on top.

A lot of the stuff in there is fairly predictable (although how Primal Scream made #3 is beyond me) & there are even a few pleasant surprises (nice to see Think Tank & The Coral in there), but some of the exclusions are puzzling. No Doves beggars belief and You Are The Quarry was Moz's best album for a decade.

The NME's inconsistency is hilarious at times too. I don't much rate it, but MGMT's Oracular Spectacular was their album of 2008 and it's nowhere to be seen now.

I've never much liked NME tbh, like you say they strike me has being incredibly inconsistent. Thet also seem to harbour perculiar adoration for bands that are genuinely terrible (imo) like Jet. But yes, nice to see the likes of Think Tank in there, though I would have probably picked it myself if I had made that list...probably.

    Can't stand NME.

Very poor list indeed. Ftr, I'm Wide Awake It's Morning is easily the best there for mine, followed by Gold and Wincing the Night Away (but if they'd chosen either of the Shins' other albums it would have been the pick).

I don't think it's a bad list in terms of general quality (IMHO of course) but it's overlooked a lot of stuff that should be there. NME is usually a joke, anyway.

Haha, definitely some truth in that.

Love some heavier stuff too though for when I feel that my manliness needs reaffirming.
