A Milestone of 2000
I've been at Cricketweb for just under a year now and my time has been filled with fond memories. For moths after joining I did not post and then I realized how truly interesting the forum is. Since then, I've been hooked. Now for my 2000 post I shall say something meaningful. I will relate my life's story....
"Well it all started in 1987 - 15 years ago....15 of the best years of my life. Why, when I was but a wee toddler I remember............... ........and he said, "No. It's the rubber chicken." We laughed and laughed. Yep those were the days. My uncle died immediately after and we cried for days. Yes it was a sad and.......... .........and then I said, "that's no rubber chicken, that's a pig." We laughed and laughed. Then the pig ate my little brother.........................

I especially liked the part about the moths. As you so rightly say, he'll truly be up there amongst the chickens (Darles Chickens)

Yes another tribute thread......... I think agemaster or Rich2002 is to blame when he started one for Luckyeddie......BTW LE you are to blame as well
Wow- today I'm just giving out blames, yes and I also blame Reuben ( Lord) for starting the business of posting a lot of posts.......although his rates back then are nothing to be compared to the ones held by Marc and Rik now ! Actually I remember a time when the only people with more than 1000 posts were Lord (reuben) and Marc....... Wow I've been here for a long long time.....wouldn't trade any of the moments visiting this site for anything !

I blame Durban.
None of you will understand that one bit, but it goes back to the days when Derby County were the best team in England by a mile (1972-1976). Every football crowd has a player they 'love to hate' - from your own team that is, usually someone whose contribution goes unnoticed by the run-of-the-mill fans. We had one at Derby - a guy called Alan Durban. One of those 'ten years ahead of his time' type players. Well, if anything went wrong, you'd always hear some sections of the crowd moaning - "Durban this, Durban that, Durban should have closed him down." Anyway, if I'm with any old mates in the pub and something happens (e.g. a pint got spilled), the recriminating glances will go round. Someone's still likely to say "It wasn't me - it was Durban." Perhaps you had to be there. |
