    Could you commit murder?

Had an interesting discussion with family tonight based around the question: is there any circumstance in which you would commit a murder?

This was based around Carl Williams, and the fact that in my opinion if he did not kill, he would have been killed. In this circumstance, I would kill to protect my own life.
I could also kill if it was in self defence, or if it meant preventing a member of my family being killed.

But it certainly raises an interesting debate.
Is there any circumstance under which you would be able to commit a murder?

Only to protect myself or someone in my family. Otherwise, I couldn't do it. Not out of hate or anything. Ifsomeone beat me to an inch within death and I had a chance to kill them, I doubt I would.

In terms of, a~la Carl Williams, you knew you would be killed if you didn't kill first.

That would still be murder, yes?

    Nah. Murder requires malice aforethought.

    Yes, I could.

I had the chance to murder I know who would be on the receiving end.

EDIT: Actually, no, it wouldn't prove much if I did that to this particular individual.

If you kill someone in self defence I'd give that the ok, but others I find it a totally unnaceptable action.

I think so, even if my life was not in danger.. However, I don't think you can say for sure until your finger is on the trigger and they are in your sights.. Not the kind of thing you can know how it feels until you are in that situation

Is it just deja-vu or something, or did we have a thread like this recently? And in that thread, so many people couldn't tell the difference between murder and killing in self defense.
