Web Design Software
After my laptop met an unfortunate end involving a pint of water and a tired, accident prone, uncoordinated Heath, I have a need for some website design software.
I used to use 1st Page or some old junk that was pretty cranky and not particularly user friendly. Not a big step up from the old Basic that came with your Acorn Electron. Anyway, does anyone have any advice on such software? What would be a decent package to pick up and help me to design my website - I have no problem coding, but something which helps with the layout and presentation of the website would be a bonus, rather than having to play with coordinates until the cows come home.

http://www.adobe.com/products/dreamweaver/ would be the way to go if you're willing to pay for it.

Have my own website www.fhfc.com.au - all created in dreamweaver, great program, definatly reccomend it. But ofcourse there are others out there, some open source, and probably just as good.

I've heard dreamweaver has a lot of unnecessary code that causes problems on different browsers (as in something that'll work on IE won't on FF or vice versa). I have the program but never made a site with it so can't say.

Haha, yeah, notepad you heathen.
Dreamweavers good from what i've played about with, which is very basic (just one thing i cant learn, or cant be bothered to, is web design), gets a lot of recommendations from folks, does all the hard work for you.

I used to make my website (http://www.sudeeppopat.com) before using Notepad, although the basic layout came from one of the free designs available at http://www.openwebdesign.org.
Since getting a Mac though, I use the iWeb software that is a part of iLife.

There is a free utility that is essentially notepad but it colour codes various parts of the code depending on the language you're writing in. Unfortunately it's been a long time since I've used it so I can't recall its name.
