US Presidential Election 2008

In light of recent events, it's on for young and (very) old from here on in.

Can't help but feel that the past eight years will be a decisive force in Decision 08, despite the realpolitik of the political mould Obama's claiming to break. Predicting a minor landslide in the Electoral College not unlike the 2006 midterms.

Praying it happens, tbh. This is the electorate's last chance to make Bush accountable for what he's done.

I think McCain will win, and win well.

O'Bama will have to win in places like Florida, Ohio and Pen.

At least two of those three.

I think his appeal is deep, but not broad.

I want Barack Obama to win, but I do think McCain will pull through.

I believe he will. I'm naturally optimistic, but I do seriously think he's got an extremely good chance.

Look at their speeches yesterday - it's like the Kennedy v Nixon TV debate all over again. Obama's amazing performance in front of 20,000 screaming supporters, McCain's slightly awkward-looking one in front of an ugly green background with maybe a couple of hundred moderately excited supporters in front of the stage.

Although, as the Republican campaign staff member interviewed on CNN said: "the election won't be won on speech-making, thank god."

Obama just needs the 'Obama Girl' to keep doing what she's doing. Except now she's gotta make a song regarding McCain.

Then he'll be home.

TBH I think they are as corrupt as each other. Barack Obama raised $235m in total by the end of March to fund his campaign, so he had to get that money from somewhere? And people in high places as a result will want favours returned. Look at the massive tax breaks Fox and Disney get (like they need it).

Whatever happens, sections of the Patriot Act need to be ripped up and the idea of a Northern America Union also scrapped (hey then they change your rights to vote, free speech or even to bear arms) along with it being the amero.

Anyway I reckon the cynics/conspiracy theorists will point to a law "that in the event of an National Emergency, the President will be able to suspend elections and hold onto the Presidency for an indefinite period".

I read this morning that Obama got a lot of his money from small donations made by his supporters on his campaign website, something that Clinton then tried to replicate later.
