If you're using the black skin/theme, the interface is fast as Schumacher. There's a bit of a tiny lag if you're using a white theme, but I've seen that on other brands of phone too. Locking the keypad, accessing the recent calls list, messages and the phonebook can be done with the click of a single button, so that's a plus. I used a Motorola before, and it took me a week or so to get used to the Samsung interface, and it seems pretty straightforward and logical. One complaint I do have is that the ringer profiles (other than the vibrate/don't vibrate option) are not accessible with a single click. You've got to wade through three or four levels to change the ringer volume or to set it on non-vibrating silent mode.

The camera isn't the best if you're planning on clicking pictures for any purpose other than viewing them on the phone itself, and the mp3 player has its drawbacks, but if the handset design matters more than those features, it's good to go. The Nokia model Sudeep posted above seems more feature-rich, and the dimensions seem to be right too, that could be a good choice if price is not an issue.

Here's a review of the E200: http://news.softpedia.com/news/Samsu...ew-63788.shtml Pretty much sums up what I've mentioned so far, other than the battery life which doesn't seem to impress the reviewer.

You could also try this site I find useful for comparing phones: http://www.mobile-review.com/review-en.shtml

It doesn't carry a review of the E200, but does have one of the E250, which is basically the same interface software on a slider model : http://www.mobile-review.com/review/...-e250-en.shtml

My personal phone is a Samsung Fantasy, while my work phone is a Samsung W531. Once my 24-month personal contract ends in March, I'll switch to just the work phone and get my calls billed through that.

Have a crappy Samsung J600 i picked up when my other phone conked out in OZ, when i get a job and a bit of money i might get something new, but fixing my itouch is probably more urgent...like the look of the HTC Max 4G as an alternative to the iphone though, but it could probably do with a bigger HD

The Nokia 6120 Classic is really tiny and slim and has the pretty good nokia operating system. Used a Motorola, Sony Ericsson and Samsung in the last 2 years but never really liked their operating system.

Motorola z9.

Best phone I ever had. Never needed a case for it, fits in my scrub pocket at work (just a tad heavy), incredibly durable and incredibly fast. Biggest drawback is that its only available in one color, at least it was when I got it. Plays music of any format I've tried so far, has excellent speakers too. Button on the side takes you directly to your music directory.
