Yeah, the huge map is ultimately beneficial to the game, but just as a general rule: a big map a good game does not make, imo. Sure, each area of GTA V has it's own style of npc characters and so on, but this sort of thing has been a staple of sandbox style games for the best part of ten years (or even more than that actually).

Splinter Cell: Blacklist - anyone playing it? Just finished the main storyline last night on realistic mode. Every mission was great and very well thought out. I played ghost style which is pretty much hardcore stealth, I hear it's not as much fun of you want to blast through it, in which case you're not using most of the best gadgets in the game. I was not a great fan of carrying guys to protection in 2 missions (can't crouch or anything) but I guess they wanted to challenge you. I'm really happy with the direction they took with this storyline too, I've always had a lower opinion of the games where they made Sam Fisher's life a major plot point of the story (Double Agent, Conviction). I think it works better with Sam as a cog in wheel, which is much more realistic. Unless I'm mistaken, in the first three games, the main villains etc have no idea who the hell Fisher is throughout the game. In this game the villain knows who Sam is but it works with the story. Another positive, the storyline is very intriguing, but the negative is that you never really find out what the antagonist's motivation is.

Chaos Theory still the best IMO as a package (awesome storyline), but Blacklist probably shades it gameplay wise.
    RIP Craigos

What you follow traffic rules in video games? I drive a tank in the oncoming lane whenever possible regardless of the side.

Such a tough game, particularly that bit in the night club where you have to evade punks who keep coming at you, and then a guy with a knife. Never got past that. Enjoyed the driving though

Installed an SNES emulator and started playing Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy 6 again. They just don't make RPGs like these anymore.
