Yea I didn't put anything into Star Citizen as I suspect I'd need a whole new computer in 2-3 years time to run it. I love the concept and so on, I'm just a little sceptical - I think they're overreaching. The actual crowdfunding element was a bit strange because it was supposed to be more about securing other funding by showing that the interest was there in the game.
Anyway here's another crowdfunding game that's just ended up on Kickstarter and has gotten off to an amazing start: Torment: Tides of Numenera by inXile entertainment — Kickstarter I'll definitely be putting money into it.

Playing XCom Iron Man mode again... God damn this game is amazing... Most tense. **** ever.

I'm still so upset about 1UP. 1UP Yours and Retronauts are the reason I care so much about games and are two of the greatest podcast series of all time. Been listening to old 1UP Yours episodes religiously lately, miss it so much. The last of the actually decent gaming websites is gone. I like some of the guys at IGN (Colin Moriarty especially, and now that Jeremy Parish is there ill always have a reason to read) but 95% of the site is a complete joke. Such a shame.
