    Question for Kiwi Beer drinkers

What Local beer do you enjoy most?

Err this isn't a sports question unless drinking beer is a sport... Hrm idea.

    Only ever had Schhhhhteinläger.

Goes alright, probably tastes like fresh septic effluent to most Kiwis with the way beer exports work though.

Far and away the best kiwi beer (imo, obviously) is Emerson's, specifically their Bookbinder and Pilsener varieties. Their current seasonal brew, Taieri George, is outstanding too.

Other goodies are Tuatara, Gisborne Gold and Bennetts (brewed in Island Bay, you can't get much more local than that).

Monteiths used to be good until DB bought it and ****ed it up.

I grew up on Speight's (dad let me have the occasional shandy from age eight) and haven't got sick of it yet. I can see why others don't like it though.

I find people who haven't grown up on it like myself don't enjoy it but people who do grow up on it (like you) Love it.

    Or Tasman Bitter.

*spits on ground in disgust at the mere thought of Tasman Bitter*

That said, it was our beer of choice at university due to its $10 price tag for a dozen.

I'd rather spend the extra 2-3 dollars then buy Double Brown or any other of that rain water mixed with mud.

Steinlager Pure is bland. Overpriced for how it tastes. Not a fan.

Mind you, I still do not understand how Heineken is considered a premium beer in NZ. The ****ty stuff tastes of earwax and is scraping the bottom of the barrel in Europe.

Another triumph for marketing over actual product.

Pure is great when it's free. Rather not spend 24 bucks for 12

    Monteiths Original Ale
    Monteiths Summer Ale
    Monteiths Radler
    (then any Monteiths)

    Tui
    Export Gold
    DB Draught
(drinking those for the last 8 years).

Speights (aka Spaggots) is one of the worst for mine.
